Today the school is really empty because a lot of people are at the Climate Strike (which is really exciting). My brain is not fully online this afternoon, though I’m not 100% sure why. I was saying to Xander e […]

Mel wrote a new post, How I Became ALC-NYC's Librarian, on the site The Melicorn 3 years, 6 months ago
First of all, you should know that I love books, always have. Some of my first memories are being in a crib, full of books; I quickly grew to be the kind of kid who had to be told to stop reading and come eat […]

OMG, I love this post! One of these days I want to geek out with you about strewing, etc.! I would love to hear about what you’ve learned. I am a huge book lover, too- and have over a thousand of my own, which I have begun to organize by the LOC system. Mel wrote a new post, The End of Year 3, on the site The Melicorn 3 years, 9 months ago
The whole time I’ve been ALFing, there’s been something about the end of year 3. An aura, or a promise: threes are magical. When I was uncertain, blindsided by a question for the first time, moving through a sit […]

This is a list of tag games that I like! We play a lot of tag, and these varieties keep it interesting. The descriptions under each are as close to word-for-word how I explain them to new players. [Notes in […]

Today, I’m feeling really grateful for Gratitudes – my favorite part of our daily routine here. It’s an optional meeting, every afternoon, but I try to never miss one. It’s been an anxious few weeks for me, but I […]

When we see love as a combination of trust, commitment, care, respect, knowledge, and responsibility, we can work on developing these qualities or, if they are already a part of who we are, we can learn to […]

Mel wrote a new post, The Self, the Mind, Time, the Brain and Reality, on the site The Melicorn 3 years, 12 months ago
The question is, what precisely makes something what it is; and what makes it the same thing with the passage of time?
Phenomenal consciousness is about the temporal “depth” of the pre […]

Since events of the future inevitably became events of the past, to engineer a new history actually was possible. One merely need to choose one’s actions carefully, and allow enough time to pass.
