    Hi Abram
Thanks for sending the link to your post on blogging, very helpful to read your thoughts around the topic. It seems all the ALC’s have their own personality, including how to think about blogging 🙂 Our thinking around blog posts is ever evolving at Triskele Rivers ALC, and as your post seems to suggest, we like to think about the…[Read more]

      Hi Abram
Thanks for sending the link to your post on blogging, very helpful to read your thoughts around the topic. It seems all the ALC’s have their own personality, including how to think about blogging 🙂 Our thinking around blog posts is ever evolving at Triskele Rivers ALC, and as your post seems to suggest, we like to think about the intention behind them for each person. Ann and I throw out provocations, but the children are not required to incorporate them into their blog. We do emphasize reflection, or writing about something you care about, and with some older kids they are using it as a portfolio-so the ideas of categories is great and we should explore them. Both Ann and I do feel if you choose to publish your post, be mindful that it is a public forum and we do feel they should take into consideration that there are readers, and what is it they are hoping to get out of their post for themselves and others (of course younger children might not know yet). Great material when talking about communication, social media, intentions…etc. How is blogging the same or different from a personal journal? Maybe the intention is to just be silly, to be thoughtful, educational, etc.-but good to become aware of the purpose of your blog-and of course that might be different on different days. Fun stuff to contemplate and think about. Thanks for your comment and thoughtful post on blogging!

I love the clarity of these examples, so well written in order for others to truly get a sense of an ALC and how it creates a beautiful structure for children to be free and safe to explore their interest. You obviously facilitate with incredible thought and purpose. Thought you and others would also like this ted talk on math, loved the article…[Read more]
